Taquería La Parrillada

Senora Beba runs this open-fronted storefront facing San Blas’ lively plaza. The aroma of sizzling meats and fishes draws in people wandering by who didn’t even realize they were hungry. Portions are large, prices are good, and there’s a huge condiment bar so you can doctor your tacos, burritos, or huge bread roll sandwiches (“tortas”) exactly as you like.

Order tacos of marlin, shrimp, beef tongue, tripe or carne asada; giant tortas for just 15 pesos. Vegetarians can choose a quesadilla made in a flour or corn tortilla. Grade a table or simply a straw-bottom chair on the sidewalk or a seat at the counter. There are two giant jugs of agua fresca such as horchata or limeade as well as canned sodas and bottled water.
